ABOUT ME

Header Über mich mobil - Stretch Coaching - Oliver Stohlmann

My life is characterised by a passionate interest in people, their stories, life paths and professional careers. Early on, I felt it was my calling to promote communication in a targeted manner, to facilitate the understanding of complex issues through clear, empathic translation, to train and support effective teams and to help people with managerial and employee responsibility to effectively reach, inspire and activate internal and external target groups.

Since 2014
I’ve been coaching executives and people in international positions, following a certified education as personal & business coach in London, UK.
2014 - 2021
I led global R&D Communications for Johnson & Johnson in New Jersey, US; initially for pharma, from 2018 cross-sector including external innovation partnerships. My team of 30 professionals was based across the US, Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, UK, China and Hong Kong.
2012
I got certified as professional hiking guide in Austria. With this, I’m entitled to plan and lead hiking parties including orientation, meteorology, first aid and further essential skills.
2011
I moved to the UK to head global R&D Communications for AstraZeneca. From London I directed a global team of 30 based in the UK, US, Canada, Sweden, Japan and China, supporting over 12,000 scientists at 20+ global facilities and guiding many on leadership comms, presentation and media interview techniques, crisis management, team development and more.
2010
I founded a consultancy for strategic communication in Vienna, Austria. Among other priorities, I designed and conducted media training and crisis communication workshops for senior leaders.
2008 - 2009
A certified trainer’s education helped me tailor and conduct impactful communications, media, presentation workshops and more, as well as strategic programmes to build effective (leadership) teams and to prepare leaders for tough announcements and other challenges.
2003 - 2009
I led Pfizer’s corporate, media and crisis communications for Europe, Canada, Australia/NZ, Africa & Middle East, preparing business leaders to interact with media, politics and other audiences and managing a team of professionals based in Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome and Montreal.
2000 - 2003
I led Public Affairs and Communications for the Austrian subsidiary of Pharmacia, a top-ten global pharmaceutical corporation.
1998 - 2000
I acquired political communications skills working for a minority party in the Austrian Parliament. In addition to media relations, the party’s website, print magazine and intense electoral campaigns, I represented the group at international conferences.
1994 - 1997
Following a degree in Communications and Journalism I decided to ‘properly’ learn the trade in a Vienna & Munich based consultancy. In practice, I learned to strategise PR campaigns, organise press conferences, draft effective communication, and much more …
